Amar Mashru

Amar Mashru Amar Mashru is an instructor for the Ashford club. Influenced by Martial Arts movies as a child, he started training in Martial Arts from the early age of 9 studying different styles, including Karate and Muai Thai, before beginning Tae Kwon Do at the age of 12 under Master F Plunkett (6th Dan). Over the years, Amar has studied various other forms of Martial Arts to help develop and enhance his skills and techniques in his preferred art, Tae Kwon Do.

Despite a six year break from martial arts to concentrate on his education and career, his commitment and dedication to Tae Kwon Do remained and he returned to training in 2006 and achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt in 2008. Amar now enjoys dedicating his time to passing on his extensive knowledge to other students, developing their sparring techniques and pattern performance, as well as continuing his own personal development in the art and his passion, sparring.

Over the years, Amar has achieved an impressive collection of over 40 medals and trophies in both Patterns and Sparring, many of which have been placed at national level, which is why you will often find him either competing himself at higher levels or coaching and mentoring others from the side lines!
